This week's #MondayMember is Lara!
We are so fortunate to have Lara at HCF! She is an inspiration to us all with her positive attidude and amazing effort she gives to every workout. Thanks for being a part of our HCF community Lara! Read below to learn more her journey at Hammonasset CrossFit:
"I came into HCF as a Bootcamper. I would only attend the Bootcamp or Boxcamp classes because this is what I was comfortable with and I was scared to death of Crossfit. I was intimidated. I was afraid of getting hurt. I was afraid of lifting heaving. I was afraid of bulking up. It took me a long time to give it a try, but I finally decided to step out of my comfort zone and signed up for the 2016 Crossfit Open. That's when I really saw what the Crossfit community was about. It wasn't about how much weight you can lift. It wasn't how fast it took you to complete a WOD. It wasn't about how many rounds you got in an AMRAP. It was about the support and the encouragement you receive from everyone when put to the challenge. It's the 'high five' you receive when you attempt your first pull-up (even if it's banded), or the 'great job' when you do your first double under, or the cheering squad that pushes you to complete the last few reps before the clock runs out. It doesn't matter what level you are at, every single person is there for the same reason and the same goal. I remind myself of this every morning when my alarm goes off at 3:55am. I know that starting my morning off like this sets my mood for the entire day and adding a little dance party in the early morning hours in between rest breaks makes it that much more fun. The gym is where I learned to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. For this, I am very grateful because it has helped in other aspects of my life! So, Thank you!!"
